Key Action 1 - Individual Mobility for Learning Purposes is renewed in Erasmus+ 2021-2027 with the introduction of blended intensive programmes, BIPs.
Developed by groups of Higher Education Institutions with an innovative pedagogical approach, BIPs involve short periods of face-to-face activity combined with online learning and cooperation, in which groups of students from different countries can participate to collaborate on specific tasks collectively and simultaneously.

In a blended intensive programme (BIP), the virtual component is compulsory and the use of digital technologies enables the institutions involved both to improve their capacity to implement innovative teaching and learning methods and to reach a wider number of learners, also involving students from subject areas with limited mobility opportunities.

The innovative formula of the mixed intensive programmes is designed to develop transnational and transdisciplinary curricula, innovative teaching and learning methods, including online collaboration, as well as to stimulate research-based learning through a challenge-based approach strongly connected to the current context.

The BIP is delivered in a blended mode, i.e. part on-line and part in-presence. At least three universities participate, collaborating in the preparation and delivery of the course, which has a short in-presence part (from a few days to a couple of weeks) and a more or less extensive on-line part.

At least fifteen students from the partner universities must enrol and students from the host university may also enrol.
