Advanced Healthy Aging simulation techniques: an inter-professional approach
An optional course for 3rd year nursing students and 5th-6th year students on Medicine and Surgery degrees, designed to supply knowledge and skills on the main therapies and recommended practices for prevention and treatment of Metabolic Syndrome. The course employs innovative teaching methods (Role-playing, E-real simulations) and allows students to test their communicative abilities toward patients and members of other professions.
The course is the subject of a case study at our university. The programme includes assessment pre- and post- action, with questionnaires validated by the literature to check communicative and relational skills, personal view of participants’ own professional role, and finally, the perceived quality of the teaching activity.

International Summer School on Immuno-Oncology: Emerging targets and combination therapies
From 31 August to 3 September 2020 at Villa San Remigio, Pallanza and Verbania, the Università del Piemonte Orientale is organising a Summer School on Immuno-oncology.
The session of 3 September will be dedicated to the topic “Immunosenescence, Inflammaging and Cancer” and is curated by experts from the AGING Project.
30 participants will be accepted to the programme, which is currently being finalised.
Seminar and training exercises in Lifestyle Medicine
This optional course is targeted at 1st year students of Medicine and Surgery at Novara and Alessandria, and focuses on the definition and action field of Lifestyle Medicine, particularly its recommended use in the prevention of osteoporosis.
The theoretical-practical course uses innovative teaching methods (Role-playing in class, gym-based exercises and label-reading) to experiment with acquired communicative skills, both towards patients and colleagues.
