Law No. 33 of 12 April 2022 provides for the possibility of simultaneous enrolment in two higher education courses, including at more than one university and institutions of higher artistic, musical and choreographic education (AFAM), both Italian and foreign.

Decree No. 930 of 29 July 2022 of the Minister for Universities and Research regulated the procedures to facilitate simultaneous enrolment in two different higher education courses starting from the academic year 2022-2023.

By Decree No. 933 of 2 August 2022 of the Minister for Universities and Research, it is permitted, again starting from the academic year 2022-2023, to enrol simultaneously in two different first- or second-level academic diploma or postgraduate or master's degree courses at the Institutions of Higher Education in Art, Music and Dance (AFAM).

Courses to which it applies and limitations

Decree no. 930 of 29 July allows simultaneous enrolment

  • to two study courses if they belong to different degree or master's degree classes and if the two courses differ in at least two-thirds of their educational activities, leading to two separate degrees
  • a bachelor's or master's degree course and a master's, PhD or specialisation course, with the exception of medical specialisation courses
  • a doctorate or master's degree course and a medical specialisation course. In the case of simultaneous enrolment in a PhD course and a medical specialisation course, concurrent attendance is governed by the University's regulations on doctoral studies
  • a PhD or Masters course and a non-medical specialisation course

In the event that one of the two courses of study is compulsorily attended (excluding from this case study courses for which compulsory attendance is required only for laboratory and internship activities), enrolment in a second course of study without compulsory attendance is permitted.

Decree No. 933 of 2 August also provides that simultaneous enrolment is permitted

  • to two academic diploma courses of first or second level or postgraduate or master's degree courses if they differ for at least two thirds of the educational activities
  • to one academic diploma course and one postgraduate or master's degree course, PhD or specialisation course, or to one postgraduate or master's degree course and one specialisation course
  • a university degree course and a course of study at AFAM institutions.

For enrolment in the various levels of the study courses, possession of the qualifications required by national legislation and University regulations is mandatory.

Admission to two study courses at the University of Eastern Piedmont is, in any case, subject to compliance with the procedures established by the university for the courses in question (Basic Skills Assessment for three-year degree courses and single-cycle degree courses or admission test for courses with programmed access).

For further information please refer to paragraph 1.4 of the Academic Yearbook 2024/2025.

Scholarships and student contribution exemptions

Right-to-study benefits are provided for a single enrolment. Total or partial exemption from student contributions is applicable on both enrolments in accordance with the provisions of the Manifesto degli Studi e della Contribuzione Studentesca.

There are currently no student contribution reductions in cases of simultaneous enrolment.

Students have the option of concurrent enrolment, provided they are in order with their first enrolment.
